Short Stories for Kids on Working in teams and groups

Short Story One : Why Free loading is a bad habit!

Long ago there was a forest, the forest had extreme weather conditions. It rained for months and flooded everywhere making it difficult for the animals to even walk around. So, the smaller animals had to collect the food and store it for such conditions.

In this forest, there was a colony of rabbits. These rabbits were hard working. They worked months together and piled up the food for the rainy season. Among them, there was a rabbit by name Kaalu. She was a little lazy. She hardly did any work. She used to while away her time and acted as if she was also working hard.

There was another rabbit by name Neelu, her task was to collect a rare herb which all of them loved. She had to run for a long distance where that herb was grown. Everyday, she did that job vigorously. Everyone appreciated her for the same.

Kaalu also liked to eat that herb. When she saw a big pile of that herb, she got tempted and pulled one single string and ate it. it was very tasty. She thought no one would notice the difference if she took only a some of them as the pile was big. Everyday, she took some herbs from the pile and ran deep into the woods, made herself comfortable and enjoyed the herbs. While, the other rabbits were busy working together.

When the rain started, all the rabbits slowly gathered in their bushes and started to unpack the storage. All the piles were intact except for the pile of herbs. There was an acute shortage for the same. Neelu felt bad that in spite of her efforts, she could not collect enough herbs for the whole group. She decided not to have her share. Seeing this Kaalu felt sad and guilty. From that day she was determined that she would never ever do such thing in future.

Parenting Takeaway:

We often find some people not putting efforts in a group. They think it doesn’t matter, because many people are there. This is a mistaken thought it would be for the groups good if everyone put in the best foot forward

He saw a lion passing by. He asked the lion if he was interested to have it, as if offering the elephant for him to eat. The lion said that it won’t consume dead animals. He saw a chetah passing by stopped to have the elephant. Immediately the fox said that the elephant was hunted by a tiger and it he has gone to bring his family along. The fox was only guarding it.
