Animals of India - Snow Leopard

Today is Earth Day. This years theme is “ Restore Our Earth”.

There is something to rejoice on the snow leopard front . A study conducted by Himachal’s wildlife department has declared that the Animals population in the state is growing.

Its soft coat, consisting of a dense insulating undercoat and a thick outercoat of hairs about 5 cm (2 inches) long, is pale grayish with dark rosettes and a dark streak along the spine.

The snow leopard’s powerful build allows it to scale great steep slopes with ease. Its hind legs give the snow leopard the ability to leap six times the length of its body. A long tail provides balance and agility and also wraps around the resting snow leopard as protection from the cold.

The snow leopard in the pic is part of our India map for kids. We have a map for little ones with the animals , to kindle their curiosity specific to animals of India - You may  buy the map here
