Short Story One: Facing problems with a plan

Once upon a time in the city of Madurai, lived 2 astrologers. Both of them were equally famous and people came to meet them from distant places. There was always a tight competition between them. Each of them wanted to prove that they were better than the other.

One day the king of that city wanted to test who was the better one. he took a distant relative’s horoscope to one of the astrologers and asked him for future predictions. After analyzing, the astrologer said that the horoscope of that person is not so good. He will lose his family in front of him and suffer a lot. The king took the same horoscope to the second astrologer. He analyzed and said that the horoscope was not too great. But the person would live a longer life in good health. He should become mentally strong to live such a life.. He added that problems were certain to everyone. But facing them bravely was important. He gave a list of precautions the king’s relative should take

The king appreciated the second astrologer and appointed him to the court. Even though both the astrologers predicted the same thing, the second astrolgers way of approaching problems impressed the king.

Moral of the story

 This is a great story to teach kids that everyone faces problems in life and we should not get scared of them, but be mentally prepared and create a list of solutions.

Short Story Two: Kindness is the best competence

In one of the kingdoms of ancient India, there were 3 daughters for a king and a queen. They were intelligent and beautiful. it was time to decide the successor of the king. He loved all the 3 daughters equally.

 One day, he called them and asked them only decide who wanted to become the next queen. All the 3 were equally ready to take the position of queen and also to forgo the chance of becoming a queen for the other. This made him more difficult to decide. So, he gave them a task. he asked them to go to the forest, find the magical pond and pray to the fairies. Whoever got a gift, would chair as the next queen.

All the 3 did as he said. When they prayed, the fairy gifted them all. she gifted the first daughter with a magical carpet, through which she could travel anywhere she wanted, the second daughter a mirror through which she whatever she wanted, and the third daughter got one beautiful flower. The nectar of the flower could save one life.

While coming back from the forest, they wanted to experiment with their gifts. The second daughter took out her glass and wished to see, what was happening in the palace. They saw, that their favorite maid was bitten by a snake. Immediately they used their magical carpet and rushed to the place. The third daughter squeezed the flower and gave the nectar to the maid. She was alright. the first 2 daughters decided that the third one should become the queen as she did not hesitate to use the flower for the maid, even though she knew that she could use it only once.

Everyone was happy with the decision and she became the queen.

Moral of the story

Giving makes up happy. it takes a big heart to give away a treasure that we own to someone in need. It increases our happiness and peace of mind
