Short Stories For Kids On Focus and Hard Work

Short Story One - Ant and a toffee, an example of hard work

On a busy day, in a corner of the city of Bangalore, there wasa big colony of Ants! They were busily immersed in their jobs when a big gush of wish blew over them. Most of the ants got together. But a few got separated. One among the separated ants was Mili. She was blown far away. She was lost and confused.

At the beginning she got scared but then she did not lose will. She started to search for her colony. Slowly braving the many obstacles, she found along the way. After walking for a while, she felt hungry and thirsty. But there was no sign of any food. She continued walking.

Finally, she reached a place which was familiar to her. She knew the way to het home from there. She continued to walk on the path leading to her home.

As fate should have it, suddenly a big piece of toffy fell before her! She stopped and relished it to the fullest extent. As the toffy was big, she decided to take it home with her. She tried to carry it. But it was heavy. She was determined. She struggled to carry the weight but never gave up. Finally, she reached her home. Other ants were delighted to see her too. Seeing the huge toffee they all jumped up with joy. Mili was proud of herself.

Moral of the Story

Did you know? Ants are very hardworking. An ant colony has 100- 200 ants. They categorise and divide the work.  They work together! Every ant will carry out its work without stopping till it dies! they are one of the brilliant creations of mother nature.

The story also depicts that when our mission is fixed and we are determined to reach it at any cost, any number of hurdles or obstacles will not affect us from reaching it.

Short Story Two: Tarun’s teacher Madhav

Tarun was a very naughty boy.His favourite was toy catapult. He used hurl tiny pepples with it everywhere. Sometimes he would aim at the branches on the tree for fruits, sometimes on his friends’ pencil boxes, lunch basgs etc. One day, his friend had carried a new lunch box. Tarun aimed at the bag and shot it witha marble! Agghh.. the water bottle which was inside the bag broke and all the water spilled and the whole classroom became dirty. One day he took a catapult and shot a stone aiming at a fruit outside his classroom window. The fruit actually fell down from the tree, but  the stone also broke the window glass!

Other people complained about him to his parents.  His parents were helpless. No amount of advice helped Tarun to change his behaviour.

Finally Tarun’s parents themselves decided to go to the principal. The principal also had heard about his mis behaviour. The principal handed over Tarun’s case to a newly appointed PT teacher Madhav. After listening to all the complaints, Madhav asked for a week’s time

In a week’s time, everyone noticed a remarkable change in Tarun. So what did his PT teacher Madhav do?. He just diverted all of Tarun’s energy into a proper channel. Tarun was naughty, no doubt. But he never missed hitting his target. So, Madhav made Tarun join the archery team in their school. Henow practised day and night with all passion and focus for archery.

Days and years passed, Tarun also represented many games in archery at national and international archery events. He was greatful to his teacher.

Parenting Takeaway

We often indulge in destructive behaviour when we have less to do. If we focus our energies on art, sport, academics there would be less time be naughty !
