Short Story one: The Joy of giving up!

Sam and Karan had grown up together. They both owned  small businesses. Sam was very enterprising. With a lot of passion and dedication, he had built his business into a successful onr. Karan had a casual attitude. He would postpone things and not plan properly.

One day, Sam got a huge order for his products. When he started to prepare to fulfill the order, he realised that he had to arrange for some money. Since the order was big and important for him, he decided to invest a huge amount of his savings on the deal.

On the other side, Karan fell into a trouble. He had to submit an important document and pay taxes for the same. As he had procrastinated it from a long time, he had to pay a huge amount as penalty. He did not have enough money. He approached Sam for the same. He cried, he said that he may have to sell his house in order to fix the situation.

Sam thought for a while. As he knew Karan very well from childhood, there was a special bond between them.Sam decided to help Karan. He gave the money which he had kept aside to fulfil his new order. Karan thanked him immensely and took the money. He paid the penalty and got back his business into the right track. Soon after a year, Sam again received another order, bigger than the previous one. While Sam was thinking about the money to start working for the order, Karan gave back the money with interest. Sam worked harder and gained a lot of profit on the order.

Moral of the Story

Sometimes the satisfaction that we get while helping a person in need by taking steps beyond our own ability brings a lot of joy. When we value a friendship, we may have to sacrifice our personal gains to help out a friend.

 

Short Story two: The Tortoise and His Shell

Once upon a time there lived a tortoise in a big lake. It was very friendly. All the animals in the pond like the swan, the  crane and the fish were its friends.  The tortoise wanted to explore the land as well. It decided to go on a small tour. It started early in the morning. Because of its shell, its pace was very slow. It could not walk for long distances.  So the next day, it decided to leave his shell in the water and continue on its journey

. But all its friends advised that the tortoise could be strong only with the shell. Without listening to its friends, the tortoise left. 

While walking, he came across a big group of deer which were running and playing around. Without their knowledge, the deer bumped into the tortoise. The Tortoise was hurt. It had to run rush back home.

After coming home it realised how importan the shell was. The Tortoise realised it should listen to its friends

Moral of the Story

When we are about to make very important decisions it is very useful to listen to our friends. They have a dispassionate view and can point us in the right direction
