Two Short Stories for Kids on Conservation

The Story of  How Ananya made a difference

Ananya was a lovely girl. she was studying in grade 6. She loved to colour and play football. Every Sunday, she had a routine, going to the beach with her grandpa. It was her favourite thing to do as she would get her weekly dose of chocolates, cookies and lots of funny stories which she loved to listen.

One such Sunday when she was in the beach, something caught her sight. She saw that the beach was strewn with  plastic bottles, eateries, even diapers on the beach. The place was polluted the place. She scanned the vicinity. She saw some shops with big tubs and buckets. She took some money from her grandpa and bought 2-3 big buckets wrote a big sign trash and kept it there.

She also started cleaning up all the trash by herself, seeing this all the people in the visinity joined her.

She did not leave the matter here. While coming back, she asked her grandpa to take her to the authorities who were responsible to make arrangements to dispose the garbage. Raised a complaint about lack of dustbins and proper facilities for the tourists in that area.

Her grandpa was very proud of Ananya. He proudly told what she did to everyone around. He also wrote the same as an article in the local news-paper which was published.

Next Sunday when they went to the beach, to their surprise, things had really improved! There were dustbins, signboards and portable toilets installed! Seeing this  both very delighted. Grand pa was so proud of his lovely granddaughter.

A Jungle Story to tecah kids to be Thankful

A little bear lived with mamma bear and pappa bear in a forest. Their house was beautiful, on the foothills of a huge mountain amidst the lush green forest. A stream running in front of their house. The little bear was always curious to know what was there on the other side of the stream. On the other side, the grass looked greener, and the flowers looked brighter. But mamma bear had made a rule that he should not go to the other side. She would say,  “There is nothing special on the other side my dear. Instead, you start exploring the unseen places on our side. Who knows you may happen to discover many things which could make you feel surprised and delighted”. But still, the bear always had a curiosity to see the other side.

One day the little one made up some courage and decided to explore what was there on the other side! So, he went on a voyage. When he reached the other side, he started to wander everywhere. But, to his surprise, there was nothing great about this side. Similar grass, similar flowers. In fact, he realized that there are certain places on his side which was better than this side. Just like his mom told him. He decided to go back. Now, to his greater surprise, when he saw his side while crossing the steam from the other side; his side looked greener, and the flowers looked bolder and brighter! He could not believe his eyes. He came back home and talked about his voyage to his parents. His mom said, “ Great that you realized that our side is as green if not greener than the other side. Remember to value what you have”

Moral of the Story

There are two key lessons we can teach our kids here .  One is a very direct one, which is about valuing what we have and not comparing other's possessions. The second lesson is also about, how we should take care of our home to be proud of it, to make nature a small part of our home no matter if we live in cities, towns or villages
