Andhra Pradesh - Demographics

There are 49,386,799 people in Andhra Pradesh. It is the 10th most populated states in India. 

Telugu is the official language of the state and 90% of the people speak the language. 

There are other languages spoken, such as Tamil, Urdu,Odia in minority. 

The major religious groups in the state are Hindus, Muslims , Christians ,Buddhists, Sikhs and  Jains

Andhra Pradesh Geography

Andhra Pradesh is knowns for its beaches, hill stations like Aruku valley,Horsley hills and deltas. 

The two main rivers of Andhra Pradesh are the Krishna and Godavari. 

The climate of Andhra Pradesh can be extremely hot during summers with a low pressure around October November which causes Cyclone. 

The winters are not cold  because of the long coastal belt. 

Andhra Pradesh Economy

∙ndhra Pradesh is also known as the “rice bowl of India” because it is one of the major producers of rice. 

The Farmers also grow jowar, bajra, maize, minor millet, coarse grain, many varieties of pulses, oil seeds, sugarcane, cotton, chili pepper, mango nuts and tobacco. ∙60% of the population is engaged in agriculture.  

They export a large variety of agricultural products to other countries . 

The state also has seaports such as Visakhapatnam Port, Kakinada Port, Krishnapatnam Port for import and export. 

They also build shipyards at Visahakhapatnam. 

Andhra Pradesh Food

Rice is the staple food of the state.Banganapalle mangoes are one of the tastiest mangoes in India and are originated 

from Andhra pradesh. ∙The traditional sweet Pootharekulu is loved by all across the state and even across 

India. 

Cultural Andhra Pradesh

The Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in Tirupati is one of the world's most visited religious sites, with 18.25 million visitors per year 

Many Buddhist monasteries,stupas and chaityas are also seen across the state.Kuchipudi, the cultural dance recognized as the official dance form of the state of 

Andhra Pradesh 

Machilipatnam and Srikalahasti Kalamkari are the two unique textile art forms practised in India.
