What is Interactive Learning?

What is  Interactive  Learning?

  • Interactive learning is  hands-on, real-world process of relaying information to kids. Passive learning relies on listening to teachers lecture or rote memorization of information, figures, or equations. But with interactive learning, students are invited to participate in the conversation, through technology online reading and math programs, for instance or through role-playing group exercises in class, or through conversations

Benefits of Interactive Learning

  • Kids are growing up in a hyper stimulating environment these days. They are exposed to a lot of information, moving pictures, short videos, often beyond what they can retain.Interactive learning helps kids in sharpening their critical thinking skills in this of environment. It also helps kids build analytical skills. Because a lot of conversations are happening, it is open ended and the child is encouraged to explore more, rather than just regurgitating memorised information. Also, in a classroom environment, interactive learning teaches kids how to collaborate and work successfully in groups and extremely important skill as workplaces become more team-based in structure.

How can I encourage interactive learning at home as a parent?

1.. Talk, talk, talk to your child . Conversations with adults is one of the best way for kids to learn new things

2.Ask open-ended questions to build a two way conversations

3. Try specific questions instead of generic questions like “ how was your day”. Generic questions often bring out a very generic response like " fine".

4.You can read together and build conversations about the reading material. What have understood about the passage? Why do you think the character is upset?  What do you think will happen next?
