Short Story One: Some people contribute without shining too bright

Centuries ago, on a sunny day, when sun moon and earth were chatting, the sun said that he was the most powerful in the whole universe. Without him, there was no chance of life on earth. The earth seconded the sun and continued saying, that the day won't start without the sun. when he comes, the flowers bloom, birds sing and everything starts to shine. Moon felt a little left out, he said that he also contribute a lot to this. But the earth said she can go on without the moon as he won't be in the same position nor the same size every day. In fact on new moon days, even in his absence, she can survive. Moon felt hurt. To show his importance, he stopped revolving around the earth. Suddenly, there were many changes in the earth’s atmosphere, there were no waves in the oceans, everything changed – the weather, the climate even the metals and minerals which are found deep inside the earth! The earth could not believe that the moon had so much effect on her. the sun and earth apologized and asked him to continue to revolve

Moral of the story:

This is a great short story  to explain to kids that not all contributions need to be loud and showcased. Some people cntribute a lot, but it is often not seen and therefore not recognized. Peopel who do household chores for example do it silently and with a lot of fortitude but it is often not seen and therefore not recognized

Short Story two: Not Everyone has the same strengths

Long long ago, Wind and fire were very proud of themselves. Whenever the fire broke, the wind would help him spread wildly. They made this their entertainment and this also caused destruction sometimes. Earth was worried. She went prayed to god to give her a solution.

Listening to her prayers, rain god came down to her and said that he could help her. But she had to somehow convince the fire to take a challenge. It was difficult to speak to the fire as he was arrogant and teasing.

Earth went to him and asked if he was ready to take up a challenge,  there would be running between fire and someone who feels stronger than the fire. Fire said that no one could be powerful than him. But,he was bit curious and decided to take part in the race.

On the day of the race, the rain hid in a huge cloud. The fire started to spread, and his best friend wind also supported him to grow wilder. There was still no sign of the opponent. The Fire laughed and said that the opponent would have run away seeing the power of fire. All this while, the rain kept growing and growing and the cloud became so huge that it could no longer hold any more water and fell down on the earth. Within a short period, the fire was washed away. Even the wind could not help! he Rain was declared the winner and the more powerful one.

Moral of the story:

Pride and arrogance are not good traits. In the above story, the fire and the wind formed a destructive partnership. They thought they could continue to create havoc unchecked because they were strong individually and the partnership made them stronger. But, the rain put them to stop. This is a lesson to remeber that we must never be too arrogant and proud.
