Indoor Play Ideas for 4 – 6 year olds

Indoor Play Ideas for 4 – 6 year olds :

Make your own Puzzles:

Store bought puzzles are great. But have you considered getting kids to make their own puzzles? All you will need are cardboard, marker, scale and good pair of scissors.  You can make kids draw any picture of their choice.  Use a marker and scale outline puzzles on their drawing. Cut them up mix it and voila you have a great home made puzzle game ready to play anytime!

Freeze:

Kids never tire of this game. This is also a good way for kids to get some movement when indoors. Choose your kids favourite music and turn up the volume. Ask the kids to dance until the music stops. When the music stops they have to freeze in whatever position they find themselves in, even if it is one leg up.

Yoga for kids:

Yoga need not always be a serious endeavor. Some of the Asanas are fun and easy and they get the kids to move more, especially when kids are indoors. Some of the really easy ones that kids can try are

  1. Cat camel
  2. Tree Pose
  3. Mountain Pose
  4. Child pose.

Check out our Yoga Poster for kids here for detailed Asanas that you can try at home.

Indoor Hopscotch:

This is a outdoor favourite for kids. But you can set up the game indoor too. Masking tape will do perfectly well.  Boxes 1 to 3 in straight lines. Boxes 4 and 5 are connected. Followed by one single box 6 . Two more  connected boxes 7 and 8 and finally the home box 9.  It is a game that the whole family can play .

Card Games:

Card games are great for challenging young minds and creating hours of indoor fun.  We have an in house flash card that we have built that can double up as card game. First the kids can take some time to read about the animals and then one player can start giving clues and other player can guess the name of the Animal.
