Animals of India - Red Panda

Red Panda is the state animal of Sikkim.

The Red Panda lives in the Eastern Himalayas and regions to the further east. They feed majorly on Bamboo. They eat almost 20,000
Bamboo leaves everyday.

It feeds mostly on Bamboo . The reason it needs to eat in such large quantities is because it can digest only about a quarter of what it
eats.

Red pandas rely on their long, bushy tails for balance as they cross tree branches. They also wrap it around themselves for warmth during
the winter months. These rusty-furred creatures tend to live alone, only rarely traveling in pairs or in families.

Red pandas measure in at just larger than a domestic cat, making them much smaller than the famous giant pandas.
