Short Stories For Kids on Smartness and Obedience

Short Story 1: Smartness Wins

Monu and Binu were cousins. They lived in one of the cities of Gujrat. One day they were walking on the street eating some snacks. They were wandering randomly in the streets talking about all the things in the world. That’s what they did during their holidays and they loved it a lot. They picked a topic and the conversation went on like this –

Monu: What would you do if you are attacked by a bear in a forest?

Binu: I will climb up a tree!

Monu: if an Elephant attacks you?

Binu: I will run criss-cross and run around trees! the elephant cannot run fast if I do so!

Monu: If you are attacked by a cheetah then? It can run fast, climb up tree then what would you do?

When Binu was about to answer, they saw a group of dogs running and coming towards them.

Binu: The dogs may attack us, tell me what would you do now?

Monu: Run!

Binu: The dogs can run very fast you know?

Monu: Binu, I need not have to run faster than the dogs, I only have run faster than you! Because then, dogs will first catch you and then come to me!

Binu was shocked with the kind of answer Monu gave! Then Monu laughed and said that he would not let it happen as Binu was his favourite cousin!

Parenting Takeaway:

Sometimes ,we may have to face situations which we would not have expected. Applying our mind during such times is very useful. We should also take care that our decision and smartness does not cause any harm to others.

Short Story 2: Follow The Rules

There was a big farm somewhere in the village of Kanakapura. There were many animals in it. Among them, there was a family of hen.  All the animals were freely moving anywhere in the farm. There was a cherry tree in that part of the farm which was close to the main road. It’s branches were spread across the main road as well. These hen’s family sometimes went out of the farm to eat these cherries from the trees grown on the road side. The master always very strictly warned the hens not to do so. Other animals also constantly complained that these hens were breaking the rule of the farm. But the hens never bothered.

One days while eating the grains and cherries on the road side, they saw a big car coming  in a high speed towards them. They were about to be crashed but luckily the master saw them and rushed to rescue them. He brought back the hens safely to the farm. They learnt a lesson.

Moral of the Story

Rules: What are rules? Why are they made?

Rules are a set of instructions which are framed to safeguard us from hazards. Different rules are framed according to different areas and scenarios. Ex traffic rules, rules in the school, etc. We often think that rules are forced upon us to be followed. But we should understand that the rules are made keeping our safety and security in the mind.
